Your Mission

As the Head of Product, you will own all facets of product development at Sailes. This includes ideation, innovation, development, and a transparent roadmap across a suite of products. You will be responsible for driving the product requirements process to remove obstacles, ensure clarity, and drive efficiency in Engineering while ensuring that all decisions align with Sailes business goals and outcomes. As the product leader at Sailes, you will research to inspire, inform, and create a robust understanding of Sailes’ market, customer needs, and competitive positions.

  • Expert knowledge of product development: Deep understanding and proven success in driving product strategy from ideation through launch. Strong ability to gather customer feedback, product data, and research to develop sound technical requirements that guide engineering team through feature completion.
  • Excellent communicator: Communicate both written and verbal with great clarity, asks the right questions, and leads with candor to achieve alignment and focused direction.

  • People focused leader: Recruit, grow, and manage a world class product team.
  • Organization and planning: Scopes, plans, organizes, schedules, and budgets in an efficient, productive manner. Focuses on key priorities. You’re comfortable managing a team of 5-7 and assigning work out to a larger group of contractors.
  • Commitment to deep research: Understands that the source of our high-quality content comes from the sheer amount of research we are willing to do. Can figure out where to look for examples and sources. Can find source material we wouldn’t find on our own.
  • Open to criticism and ideas: Often solicits feedback and reacts calmly to criticism or negative feedback.
  • Totally honest: Does not cut corners ethically. Earns trust and maintains confidences. Does what is right, not just what is politically expedient. Speaks plainly and truthfully.
  • Self-aware: When you don’t know something, you’re very good at learning it, even from primary sources. When you’re at a 2/10 in terms of understanding, you don’t delude yourself into thinking you’re at an 8/10. You aren’t afraid to ask for help.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of product management experience, managing software products from inception through launch and iteration
  • 5+ years experience building, mentoring, and leading a world-class team of Product Managers and Product Leads at various levels to deliver business results
  • Proven leadership experience as a Director, Sr. Director or VP of Product at a high-growth, software startup (preferably throughout multiple company phases).
  • Strong track record of product leadership and end to end ownership
  • Experience leading successful outcomes of product areas at different levels of maturity (e.g., 0 to 1, pre product-market-fit, hypergrowth, scale)
  • Penchant for data, business savvy, experience with experimentation and a learning mindset
  • Experience in building and growing B2B SaaS serving Enterprise customers and partnering on product-led growth and product-led sales GTM motions is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical prospects.
